What Is a Laboratory Box Furnace?

2025-12-12 15:52

laboratory box furnace is primarily used for hightemperature sintering, metal annealing, quality inspection, and similar applications in universities, research institutes, and industrial enterprises. Its core principle involves generating heat by passing an electric current through heating elements, creating a uniform hightemperature environment within an enclosed chamber lined with refractory materials, thereby meeting various heat treatment needs.

Shenyang Kejing Autoinstrument Co., Ltd.’s laboratory box furnaces offer high temperature control accuracy, even temperature distribution, simple operation, fast heating and cooling rates, and low energy consumption.

Application Areas of Laboratory Box Furnaces:

1.Food Industry:
Used for food ashing, a key sample pretreatment technique in food composition analysis. High-temperature ashing removes organic components and leaves inorganic residues, laying the foundation for accurate subsequent analysis. Shenyang Kejing's laboratory box furnace can reach a maximum heating temperature of 1700℃ and maintain it for 30 minutes, meeting the requirements of the food industry.

2.Environmental Monitoring Industry:

Applied for high-temperature ashing of soil samples. This method provides crucial support for soil pollution surveys, environmental quality assessment, soil fertility evaluation, and geological research. Our industrial box furnace is MET-certified, ensuring authoritative and reliable sample preparation for related analyses.

3.Machinery and Metal Processing Industry:
Suitable for heat treatment of small components, such as springs, molds, and precision gears, effectively improving their mechanical properties. It is also used for high-temperature sintering of diamond blades, aiding in their shaping and performance optimization. The chamber of our industrial box furnace is made of high-purity alumina fiber, offering strong temperature stability for versatile applications.

4.Energy Industry:
Plays a significant role in coal quality analysis, used to determine key indicators such as moisture, ash content, volatile matter, and ash melting point. This provides essential data for efficient coal utilization and quality evaluation.

5.Ceramics, Building Materials, and New Material Development:
Used for high-temperature sintering of materials to promote shaping and enhance performance. Additionally, it can conduct fire resistance testing to evaluate materials' tolerance in high-temperature environments.

Precautions for Using a Laboratory Box Furnace:

1.The chamber temperature must not exceed the maximum rated temperature, and the furnace should not be operated above its rated temperature for prolonged periods.

2.Do not pour any liquids into the chamber of a hightemperature furnace or box furnace, and avoid placing samples that are wet or oily into the chamber.

3.Do not use tongs that are wet or contaminated with oil to handle samples.

4.Always wear specialized heatresistant gloves when loading or unloading samples to prevent burns.

5.When placing or removing samples from the chamber, first turn off the power supply and handle items gently to ensure safety and avoid damaging the furnace lining. Always disconnect the power before handling samples to prevent electric shock.

6.Keep the furnace door open for the shortest possible time when loading or unloading samples. After use, promptly remove samples from the chamber, turn off the heating function, and shut down the power supply.
